Family Bonding Time
Trinity K.
Period 5

Carol is getting bullied. Each day, a classmate of hers, slaps her and threatens her for her lunch money. Carol does not have have a good relationship with her family so she cannot get help from anyone. People need to spend quality time with their families. When people spend quality time with their families, their children will excel academically, their children will tell them what happened in their day, and their children will learn how to set aside time for the things they value.
It’s nice to share what has happened in your day. However, if people don’t have a strong relationship with their families, they may not feel comfortable doing this. This is why family bonding time is important. If something bad is happening in one of a family member’s life, the other people in that family won’t know and they can’t do anything to help their family member. Families must build trust so that they can help one another out (Paolicchi).
Who wouldn’t want his or her family to excel academically? When families spend time helping young family members with homework, it prepares children for school so they are more likely to have a better future in school (Paolicchi).
Parents are role models! “Children learn to bring balance to their lives when they see their parents setting aside time for what they value”(Pish). This can help them in their lives now and even in the future when they are adults. An example of when parents do this is when they participate in something others want to do. This sends a strong message of love (Pish). When children don’t have a parent as a role model, they may see things on TV or on the internet that can lead them to build “fake values” (“3 Reasons to Spend Quality Time With Your Family’’) because the internet can be a bad influence.
Some may say they don’t have time to speak with their family members. However, they could think of times that all of their family members have time off, and they could go on a family vacation! That is the perfect opportunity to spend time with your family. Most likely, children will say that they just think their family members are annoying or they don’t understand. In that case, parents can do things that seem fun like play a board game. Taking time off or playing a board game is a low price for building trust and relationships with your family members.
